Museum Sales/Guide ‬‬‬‬ ‪Withers Collection Museum and Gallery – Memphis, TN‬‬‬ ‪Job Description‬‬‬ ‪Job Title: Museum Sales/Guide ‪Department: Museum and Gallery‬‬‬‬ Status: Part-time‬/Seasonal ‪Reports to: Museum Manager‬‬‬ ‪SUMMARY: The Withers Collection Museum and Gallery (WCM&G), opened our doors in February 2011, located on the historical Beale Street. We feature the amazing historical photographs of the world-renowned photojournalist, Dr. Ernest C. Withers, covering Civil Rights, Music, Sports and Memphis Life Style. You must be outgoing, courteous, polite, and enjoy working with the public. You must work cordially and professionally with all managerial staff and employees. You must also perform other supportive duties for the museum between tours.‬‬‬ ‪Job Duties‬‬‬‬ ‪Conducting informative and engaging tours through the photographic museum and gallery. ‬ • Assisting guests with purchase of photographs and other retail products of historical significance. • Following provided material and additional information when giving tours and answering questions. ‬‬‬‬‬ • Conducting tours for school and private groups or off-site exhibits, trade shows, festivals, etc. • Assisting in special events hosted by the museum, such as music and/or spoken word, book readings and/or signings, movie nights, etc. • Following company and departmental rules and procedures. ‪Perform supportive duties between tours. ‬‬‬‬ • ‬‪Light office work such as answering phone, entering data, processing orders.‬ • Light cleaning such as sweeping, dusting, vacuuming as necessary with opening and closing procedures. ‪QUALIFICATIONS: Skills and Background‬‬‬‬ • ‬‪Demonstrated ability to work well with the public and give tours within the allotted time. ‬‬‬ • ‪Must speak and read English fluently, and be able to absorb vast of historical information and carry out instructional tasks and daily assignments‪. ‬‬‬‬‬‬ • ‪The ability to handle one on one interaction to groups up to 25 people with different personalities, backgrounds and interests.‬‬‬‬ • ‪Must possess problem-solving skills and be able to deal with a fast-paced daily schedule.‬‬‬‬ ‪Education/Experience‬‬‬‬ • ‬‪ Prior experience in museum and art gallery sales or hospitality, travel/tourism industry, will be an advantage. ‬‬‬ • Background in fine art, photography, history, or public speaking will be a plus.‬‬‬‬ • ‪Associate or Bachelor’s degree will be a plus, but not required.‬‬‬‬ ‬‬‬‬ ‪Job Type: Part-time‬/Seasonal‬‬‬ ‪Submit resume to: [email protected]‬‬‬
